Chapter 2

Conclusion

     Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: “Every matter has a summit, and the summit of the Quran is Surat Al-Baqarah”

     He said: “Within ‘The Cow’ –Surat Al Baqara- is a verse Aytul Kusri.  This verse is the pinnacle of the Quran.  Whoever reads it in his or her house builds a shield between the devil and his or her family.” 

             The companion Huthaifa narrated: ‘I prayed with our beloved prophet the night prayer.  He, peace be upon him, started reciting Surat Al-Baqarah ‘The Cow.’  I thought he would stop after a hundred verses, but he continued.  I thought he would recite it all and stop, but he continued into Surat Al Imran until he finished it.  He peace be upon him would recite slowly and beautifully.  If he read a verse that glorified God, he would pause and praise God.  If he read a verse that contained a supplication, he would pause and supplicate God. And if he read a verse that mentioned evil, he would pause and seek refuge in God.’       

             During the night journey, when the Messenger of Allah reached Sidratu al-Muntaha -where earthly deeds rise, and from where heavenly messages descend-.  God granted him three things that were never granted to anyone before.  He, peace be upon him, was granted the five daily prayers; he was given the last two verses of Surat Al-Baqarah, and his followers were granted forgiveness from major sins as long as they had untainted faith. 

             Prophet Muhammad advised us: “Read the Quran for it will intercede on your behalf on the Day of Judgment.  Read Surat Al-Baqarah and Surat Al-Imran for they will come on the day of judgment like two massive clouds or two large flocks of birds defending their followers.  Read Surat Albaqaah for reading it will fill you with blessings, and leaving it behind will fill you with regret.”
